Kevin has a service guide dog, named Lewis for 9 years and had Nemo for 10 years who has retired in September 2022.
In 2023 I received my third service guide dog Woody a black Labradoodle.
KEVIN FROST DEAF, BLIND CHAMPION, PHILANTHROPIST, TEDX SPEAKER AND MULTI SPORTS ATHLETE
Kevin Frost is a Deaf/Blind 3 time World Champion Canadian speed skater who resides in Ottawa.
He has Usher’s Syndrome, leaving him with a 10% hearing capacity and has 3% vision remaining.
Kevin has a service guide dog, named Lewis for 9 years and had Nemo for 10 years who has retired in September 2022.
During the last 25 years , he has won 16 gold medals and set 9 World records in Blind speed skating. He has also ranked 8th in the World, against able-bodied Master speed skaters. So far, winning 80 medals competing against able-bodied skaters.

I’m grateful I’ve crossed paths with Kevin with my Seizure Response Dog Guide at fundraising events for LFC Dog Guides, as a fellow person with invisible disabilities. Despite my conditions, I’m also a previous member of the Ottawa Rowing Club and am a Yoga Teacher. Struggling with medical retirement to say the least.
Kevin’s journey absolutely amazes me. The 10 words Kevin uses to thoroughly to describe himself and inspire people throughout his book are: “advocate, believe, dedicated, fitness, giving, God, health, humour, inspirational and positive.”
I couldn’t put his book down from start to finish, with many uplifting take away’s moving forward. Helpful for anyone struggling in the disabled community. Cognitive behavioral therapy - in darkness and in light - but with good humour. This really helps me see myself differently, and believe I can improve my quality of life.
